Summary of SHIELDS-TRAUGER Awards
1970-2000
This is the highest
honor the Balloon Federation of America (BFA) can bestow on
Aeronauts in the USA. Nominations are made each year to the BFA
Awards Committee for the previous year, and presented at the annual
meeting during the National Competition week. It is made to the BFA
member who is an active balloonist and has made a special
contribution to aerostatics by:
A. A notable
flight;
B. A worthwhile contribution to the
science of aerostation
C. An important contribution to the
safety of ballooning; or
D. Exemplary service to the BFA.
The award is not necessarily presented each year, nor to one person
alone in that year.
